Institute of Medicine (IOM)

Institute of Medicine (IOM) was established in 1972 under Tribhuvan University with the mandate and the responsibility of training all the categories of health-related human resources according to the need of the country. Within the first decade of its establishment, it extended into 22 campuses across the country. IOM was established with the following goals:

• To produce of health-related human resources required for health services and education
• To provide health services through its health institutions
• To conduct research in health sciences

Currently it has 7 constituent campuses, 1 central department, 15 affiliated colleges and 3 tertiary level teaching hospitals.

Vision

Produce all categories of health-related human resources to fulfill the need of the country.

Mission

• To provide health category of education.
• To provide quality healthcare services through its hospitals
• To provide all categories of health-related human resources
• To conduct and participate in researches in the field of health sciences and education

Goal

To achieve self sufficiency in the production of all categories of health-related human resources and quality health care services in Nepal.
